Argan Care contributes to achieve the UN sustainable development goals
In particular with goals number 5, 8, and 15.
5: Achieve gender equality and empower women and girls
8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
15: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
We plant trees
Protecting the endangered Argan forest is important. More than 50% of the original forest volume has diminished in recent years. If the forest disappears, then the Sahara desert vil spread and create huge sosial, economic and natural issues. We plant new trees and protect the forest that’s already there. The Argan trees are a source to many: other plant species, animals and of course, humans.
We empower women
We work with Berber women in south-west Morocco. Women that have been able to seek employment for the first time in their communities. We contribute to a future where boys and girls have equal opportunities, on a planet that is taken care of for future generations.
Women empowerment in practice!
We are part of creating sustainable communities
About two million people in Morocco live in the Argan Forest area and many of them are dependent on the forest for their livelihood.
We help locals make an income through sustainable management of the forest. We work with women’s cooperatives providing employees with relevant training to scale their income long term. We help cooperatives take the next steps they need in order to grow the cooperative in a sustainable way.
